The French Open 2004 final between Gaston Gaudio and Guillermo Coria is one of the best finals that has been played till date. The finals of Roland Garros have not gone onto a fifth set, ever since the clash between the two Argentinians in 2004.

Gaston Gaudio defeated fellow Argentine, Guillermo Coria in a five set thriller in the finals of French Open, in a way that went right down to the wire. Gaudio lost the first two sets convincingly, and was all set to face a straight sets defeat. However, he made an epic comeback and won the next three sets to clinch the title.

Gaston Gaudio won by a score line of 0-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, 8-6 in five sets. The top seed at the tournament that year was Roger Federer, who lost in the third round itself. Argentinians have been good players on clay court surface. Gaston Gaudio was unseeded prior to the tournament, and created history by fighting against all odds to claim the title in Paris.

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer clashed in the finals of the French Open for the fourth time in 2011. The Spaniard won once again in four sets, by a score line of 7-5, 7-6, 5-7, 6-1. Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic clashed against in the finals of French Open 2014, where Nadal won in four sets. However, the Spaniard was pushed to the backfoot early on, as Djokovic managed to win the first set. Eventually, the King of Clay won by a score line of 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4.

Novak Djokovic had a golden chance to claim his maiden French Open title, as he came up against the Swiss, Stan Wawrinka in the finals. The Serbian had defeated Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals, and was the favorite to win the match. However, he fell short once again, losing in four sets. The final score line read 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in Wawrinka’s favor.

Novak Djokovic finally claimed his maiden French Open title in 2016, when he defeated Andy Murray in the finals. He lost the first set, and was staring at his fourth defeat in the finals. However, he went on to win the next three sets and finally complete his Career Grandslam. Djokovic won the match by a score line of 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.
